Beaubois' undeniable expertise in architectural millwork was called upon for the construction of the new Stockton Courthouse in the historic Hunter Square in downtown Stockton, California. Nearly $300 million were invested in building the ultramodern 13-floor courthouse.
Using smoked African eucalyptus wood, the Beaubois team sculpted the wooden furnishings for the building’s 30 courtrooms, judges' and lawyers' offices, witness and jury boxes, doors, frames, and other architectural elements. Public benches were built from reconstituted white oak.
The wall panels surrounding the central 3-storey staircase were made of laminated white plastic framed in aluminum, a bold design that requires tremendous precision during installation. The Beaubois team worked skillfully on a tight schedule to execute this stunning focal point of the courthouse.
The new Stockton Courthouse was built to LEED Gold certification standards and includes many environmentally friendly features. Built at the heart of a growing community, the new facility was designed to meet Stockton’s current and future judicial needs.
