The Public Safety Building of the City of Palo Alto, located in California, was built in 1970. However, the building no longer meets the current seismic code and accessibility requirements due to the growth of public safety services and changing regulations.
To address this, a new building was commissioned to house the Police Department, 911 Emergency Dispatch Center, the Emergency Operations Center, the Office of Emergency Services, and the administration needs of the Fire Department. Swinerton Builders was awarded the contract, and the total project cost is $118 million.
Swinerton Builders sought the expertise of Beaubois to create wood furniture for the offices, pedestals, and wall panels of the three-story, two-basement building. Despite multiple delays in construction due to the City's budgetary constraints, the project is scheduled to be completed in summer of 2023.
