The Nemours Children’s Hospital – a unique approach to healthcare
Beaubois’ unique approach to architectural woodwork was the perfect fit for the Nemours Children’s Hospital – an institution that encourages a similar approach to health care for children. This top-level institution offers a variety of unconventional features to encourage physical and psychological healing including gardens, nature walks, a center for pet-facilitated psychotherapy and calming fountains.
With a total value of more than $400M, the six-storey hospital was built on 60 acres of land and includes 95 beds, a children’s clinic, an emergency department, a diagnostic and ambulatory services department, as well as education and research centers.
Beaubois produced and installed wood furnishings for all rooms and washrooms, as well as nursing stations, reception counters, curved benches in the waiting rooms, sleeper walls with integrated television screens, wall paneling in the elevator lobbies and curved counters covered in a solid surface. The firm also provided laboratory furnishings, including stainless steel items; and crafted decorative glass panels to be integrated into certain pieces of furniture.
The extensive project was organized around a very tight schedule and the Beaubois team worked to coordinate all production with other specialized contractors and equipment suppliers. Beaubois was pleased to be a part of such an innovative project to benefit children’s health care.
