Located in Miami, Florida, the new Miami-Dade County Courthouse will replace the one built in 1928. The 25-story, 474-foot-tall building will be completed in 2024 and will have 620,000 square feet. The tower will also include 46 finished courtrooms.
HOK, a U.S. architectural firm, designed the sustainable building with a focus on natural light, energy conservation, water conservation, and healthy interior materials. Beaubois was called upon to design the courtroom furniture for the construction contract awarded to Tutor Perini Corporation. This project is Beaubois’ biggest undertaking in terms of the number of rooms involved.
Beaubois opted for Mahogany Khaya essence for all aspects of the courtroom, including the furniture, judges’ furniture, jury benches, spectator seating, wooden wall panels, entrance doors, lawyers’ tables, administrative team workstations, and motorized lecterns.
