The Methodist Hospital Outpatient Care Center – raising the bar in health care
The 21-storey Methodist Hospital changed the profile of the sector it was built in, while still blending perfectly with existing structures and urban designs. As the site was bound by two busy thoroughfares, bisected by another street and surrounded by existing buildings, it proved to be a challenging area for construction. The designers worked with the City of Houston to maximize available space while minimizing the impact of the construction.
With floors ranging from 40,000 to 70,000 sq. ft., the new outpatient care center promotes facilitated circulation of patients, staff and visitors. Natural light enhances the space, as does the exceptional architectural woodwork provided by Beaubois. A two-storey-high reception area boasts impressive wood paneling blended with stone and a fountain integrated into the wall.
The Beaubois team produced furnishings for the nurses’ stations on each floor as well as woodwork for the elevator lobbies and wall units, closets and headboards for the rooms on the 13th to 20th floors. Counters, chair supports and other architectural elements were also provided by Beaubois. The team worked with other contractors to ensure all medical equipment was properly integrated. This was a rewarding project for Beaubois’ talented team of professionals.
