The Fairfax Hotel at Embassy Row was a historic luxury hotel located on Massachusetts Avenue in Washington, D.C. It was designed by architect B. Stanley Simmons and was built in 1927. It operated as a combination transient and residential hotel and was home to numerous government figures, including former President George H. W. Bush and his parents and former Vice-President Al Gore and his family. The upscale facility closed permanently in 2021 and will now be transformed into a high-end senior housing facility.
This prestigious 174,000-square-foot, eight-story building will be converted into 174 luxury apartments. The international architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle was selected to lead the hotel renovation project in partnership with general contractor Turner Construction. For the project, Beaubois was commissioned to create various custom wood finishes, fabricated metals, large-scale moldings, and high-end amenity spaces.
