Fairmont Austin – a colourful Texan dreamscape brought to life
Opened in March 2018, this high-profile luxury development boasts 1048 rooms, 37 stories, a rooftop pool, and nearly 1.4 million square feet. The Fairmont Austin, located in the Central Business District, now provides access to the Austin Convention Center via the Red River Canopy Walk and its lighted spire stands out in the Austin skyline.
In order to achieve the precise look that Gensler architects had envisioned, Beaubois collaborated with a painting specialist and project designers to develop a range of over forty custom, rustic wood stains and paints.
In terms of woodwork, the crowning jewel is without a doubt the Fairmont Austin’s Sound Stage 16. This 11,700-square-foot area features a central bar, topped by a bronze-finished canopy, and is surrounded by a range of multicultural restaurants, each presenting a unique look and colour palate. Beaubois craftsmen installed ceiling and wall paneling, aged corrugated metal accent pieces, MDF panels for a faux brick finish, an imitation shingle roof, a Western-style porch accented by a hand-crafted rocking chair, and more.
Beaubois’ craftsmanship can also be spotted throughout the building, including exclusive ballroom moldings and crowns, as well as trim and furniture in all bars, hotel rooms, the spa, bathrooms and conference rooms.
