Cité Desjardins – a distinguished development
Canada’s foremost cooperative financial group, Desjardins, has erected a new 15-storey building in the Lévis neighborhood that bears its name. Known as the Cité de Desjardins de la Coopération, this vast sector is home to several Desjardins buildings. The new tower covers a total of 420,000 sq. ft. and houses more than 1,500 work stations. The impressive building boasts a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River.
Beaubois offered its expertise in architectural woodwork to add unique elements to the new glass tower. Wooden wall panels and a ceiling of wooden planks set at angles provide a unique aesthetic for the atrium of the building. The Beaubois team used white oak for the architectural acoustic wall and ceiling panels in the common areas, entrance lobby, lounge area, elevator lobbies, multimedia room and conference rooms. The team also produced and installed built-in furniture in the break rooms, numerous guard rails and other elements in the public areas.
The new tower has been certified LEED Gold. High-performance lighting maximizes the use of natural light and the tower includes a geothermal system as well as retention ponds and basins. Beaubois was thrilled to partake in this exceptional $125-M revitalization project that secures Desjardin’s place as a leader in the economic development of the city of Lévis.
