The Center for Performing Arts – an inspiring structure
The success of the Center for Performing Arts is measured as much by the architectural details of the building as it is by the works presented on stage. Specialists in art and in wood, the Beaubois team was a natural fit for this inspiring project.
Beaubois crafted a set of moldings that intersect at varying levels to create breathtaking ceilings in the lobbies of the center. The team also worked on four piano bars, all piano-shaped, and used a variety of hardwoods to create a keyboard effect.
In the concert hall, Beaubois produced a magnificent choir loft – a 60-ft.-long and 6-ft.-high piece of furniture with 10-ft.-long low lateral walls. A one-of-a-kind staircase was built in front of the choir loft; equipped with wheels, it can be moved and divided into five pieces for easy handling and storage.
Architectural elements enhance the appeal of the concert hall including Brazilian cherry wood railings for the orchestra pit, wainscoting around the room, detailed choir benches and appliqués to decorate the door frames.
The Center for Performing Arts includes a 1,600-seat palladium concert hall, a 500-seat proscenium theater and a 200-seat studio theater. Equipped with the latest technology and acoustic design, it is among the elite performance venues in the United States. Beaubois was proud to contribute to the creation of such an inspiring space that will be a haven for local and international artists.
